Ameliorative effects of selenium against cypermethrin induced toxicity of tissue minerals in vital organs of Sprague Dawley rats

Publication history: Received on 26 October 2022; revised 13 December accepted 15 2022 Abstract: Introduction: Alpha-cypermethrin (Pyrethroid insecticide) is widely used in disease vector control, agriculture, home pest control and protection of foodstuff across the world. Due to its unchecked widespread use, non-target organisms are also getting affected by toxic effects. Objectives: This investigation was aimed determine preventive potential selenium changes tissue minerals induced a short-term (21 days) oral treatment cypermethrin Sprague-Dawley rats. Methodology: Female rats (n=20) were equally divided into four groups. Group 1 received corn oil (1 ml), 2 administered 55 mg/kg/bw cypermethrin, ppm sodium selenite 3 4 given both selenite. Concentration (Se, Na, K, Mg, Cu Zn) determined brain, heart, liver, kidney, spleen blood through atomic absorption spectrophotometry. Results: Results showed that administration caused significant trace metals electrolytes some tissues while most tissues’ concentrations remained unaffected. Conclusion: The present study can be effective toxicity. However further studies conducted analyze effects different doses toxicity minerals.
